Description

This curious display was created by Robert P Cook (1906-1989), a lecturer (and later Professor) of Biochemistry at the University in Dundee. Cook’s main field was nutrition (he was an international authority on cholesterol) but he was also fascinated by the science of colour. This is one of several displays he put together on hair colour, but we know nothing about how or why it was created – or how he chose his subjects. Did the good people of Carnoustie willingly part with their red hair or was he surreptitiously snipping it off without their knowledge? We may never know!
