Tam O’ Shanter by Abraham Cooper, c.1854

Description

Oil painting showing a scene from Robert Burns’ famous poem of Tam and his horse Meg approaching the roofless church to see the witches dance. Cooper was best known as an equestrian painter so the horse is clearly the star of this picture.
