A virtuosic French programme based around two of Rameau’s Pieces de Clavecin en Concert supplemented with solo sonatas by Jean-Marie Leclair for violin and Michel Blavet for flute.

In the Trio Sonatas by Rameau, the harpsichord does not just play continuo but has an obbligato part, accompanied by violin and viola da gamba; these are replaced in this concert by flute and violin, as suggested by the composer.

This concert will feature one of the harpsichords from the famous Russell and Mirrey collections at St Cecilia’s Hall.
