Join the University of Dundee Museums for their monthly opening of the D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum, this time with some added children’s comic making activities as part of a UK wide project titled ‘The Wild Escape’ celebrating the UK’s wildlife and creativity.

One of their Museum Engagement Officers will be on hand to show you some of the amazing wildlife you can find here in Scotland and help you make your own comic telling the story of their great escape from the museum’s collection into their perfect habitat.

The comic templates have been created by Art Fund UK and LICAF (Lakes International Comic Art Festival) for you to show the escape of your favourite animal into the wild. When you’ve finished, the Museums can submit them to be part of a UK wide collective artwork unveiled on Earth Day 2023.

About the Wild Escape

The Wild Escape is a major new project led by Art Fund uniting hundreds of museums with schools and families in a celebration of UK wildlife and creativity.

The Wild Escape invites children to find a favourite animal in their local museum and create an artwork imagining its journey to a natural habitat.

The pictures and stories children create will be brought together in a collective work of art that imagines a better future for the wildlife on our doorstep, launched online and in venues across the UK on Earth Day 2023.

It is made possible by lead support from Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants, with additional support from Art Fund and a group of generous individuals and trusts.

The event is free and no booking is required. However, to reserve your place, book your ticket on Eventbrite.
